This article tells about the Italian POWs that were sent to Hereford, Texas. It also tells of how some German POWs were sent there too but after a riot broke out between the two groups the Germans were sent somewhere else.

This is an essay written by Arnold Kramer. It discusses when more than 150,000 Afrika Corp German soldiers were taken prisoner of war in 1943. Texas got a lot over 90,000 of the POWs and this article tells about how Texans had to figure out what to do with all of them and where to put camps for them to stay at. This article has lots of good pictures.
